Fletcher Allen Health Care:

Design, Content Management, Information Architecture, and Home Page

Anne designed and built the entire Fletcher Allen web site in 2001. The criteria was to bring the site into a content management system, to create a professional look, and to develop an information architecture that would allow for 30,000 pages of content.

In 2007 the Department of Marketing and Communication requested a home page redesign that would tie into the existing site design and that would allow for a Flash banner, rotating event images, tabbed navigation, and the opportunity for key departments to have one-click access to their sites. All of these features needed to be updated by non-technical people using the existing content management system.

Audience-Focused Hubs

Being a large site that serves many needs, the information architecture is based on several audience-based hubs, each with its own color scheme and relevant content.

The Cardiology department's site incorporates third-party patient information content, research, online risk assessment tools, educational video and animation. CSS-based flyout navigation was introduced here to facilitate access to a wealth of information.

Fletcher Allen Health Care:

Heart Rhythm Program

The depth of content of the Electrophysiology department requires multi-tier dropdown menus with flyout navigation.

Vermont Children's Hospital

Fletcher Allen Health Care:

Vermont Children's Hospital

The Vermont Children's Hospital has a custom look that is colorful and fun for kids. An ongoing feature is video of the weekly educational television segment presented by Pediatrician Dr. Lewis First, called "First with Kids."

Eleanor B. Daniels Fund

Fletcher Allen Health Care:

Eleanor B. Daniels Fund

This site was created in memory of artist Eleanor B. Daniels, who was a patient at Fletcher Allen during her battle with cancer. The site tells about the fund and offers her artwork for sale to raise money for cancer research.

*Note: Anne's versions of the Fletcher Allen web sites were live from 2001 to 2009. In 2009 an institutional reorganization and change in the content management system led to the sites being overhauled and managed by an outside consulting firm.
